Biography
Hi, I’m Michael, your photographer in Seoul.
My journey with photography began right here in Seoul, where I spent the early 2000s shooting street scenes on film. Those years were rooted in documentary photography, observing everyday life and capturing honest, unfiltered moments as they naturally unfolded. That foundation shaped how I see the city and how I photograph people within it.
In 2006, I launched Korea’s first street fashion blog, which opened the door to a new way of telling visual stories. Since then, my work has continued to explore style, identity, youth culture, and the unique energy of Seoul’s streets. While I also teach and research visual culture and art history, photography has always remained at the center of what I do.
During our photoshoot, I bring that same documentary mindset and fashion-forward eye. Whether we are walking through the creative streets of Hongdae, exploring Garosugil, or discovering quieter neighborhoods, my goal is to help you feel comfortable, confident, and fully part of the city. I focus on natural movement, strong composition, and images that feel both personal and cinematic.
If you are looking for photos that capture not just how you look, but how Seoul feels, I’d be happy to photograph your time here and create something meaningful together.
