Hi, I’m Matt. Nice to meet you.

I’m a professional photographer who has been based in Kyoto and Osaka for many years. With over seven years of experience and more than 1,200 photoshoots completed, my passion is creating clean, natural, and minimalistic images set against some of Japan’s most iconic and beautiful backgrounds.

During our photoshoot, I’ll take you to my favorite photo spots across Kyoto and Osaka, from well known landmarks like Gion, Higashiyama, Fushimi Inari, and Arashiyama to quieter corners that make the experience feel smooth and unhurried. You don’t need to worry about posing. I guide you naturally so you feel relaxed and look your best in every photo.

I’m friendly and easygoing, and many guests tell me the session feels more like exploring the city with a local friend than doing a formal photoshoot. I’m also happy to adapt the itinerary to your interests, whether that means starting early to avoid crowds or focusing on specific locations you want to see.

Outside of photography, I’m passionate about philosophy, history, and languages. Along the way, I’ll share insights into Japanese culture and Kyoto’s history to give context to the places we visit, along with a few terrible jokes to keep things light.
